Life cycle management introduced to buildings
     2012-June-5  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

LIFE cycle management will be introduced to new buildings in the city to supervise their construction, operation, reconstruction and demolition.

According to the city’s construction commission, the city will next work on buildings’ energy efficiency. The life cycle management system will be initiated from the planning stage of a building.

Meanwhile, the city will promote green buildings and 10 model projects of green buildings will be approved this year. From 2014, all the projects invested by the government will follow the standard of green architecture and a supervision platform will also be built. Two hundred large public buildings are expected to be registered with the platform this year and all the public buildings will be on the platform in 2013. The city will also support seven garbage recycling companies and two garbage disposal industrial parks.

Since 2010, the city has built energy-saving buildings covering 24.04 million square meters and recycled garbage of 4.74 million tons. About 4,827,333 hectares of land and 390,000 tons of coal were saved and emission of carbon dioxide was reduced by 1.05 million tons.

Qingdao is selected as the country’s model city for energy-recycling architecture and energy-saving supervision system, as well as one of the first-batch cities of architecture for energy efficiency.
