NIGHT OF REUNION AT SZ INTL. COMMUNITY

AN international community carnival was held Tuesday evening inside the Jingshan Villa, the biggest international community in Shenzhen, to celebrate the traditional Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival.

About 300 residents, regardless of their nationality or age, enjoyed a party with full participation on the football field inside the villa.

Starting in the late afternoon, the festival mood could be felt with children holding sticks of sugar figurines (a traditional Chinese form of folk art using hot, liquid sugar to create figures) playing and laughing across the football field.

Not far away from the entrance to the football field, people lined in front of a large stall decorated with red lanterns where traditional Chinese handicrafts, calligraphy and painting were on show.

As dusk fell, music rocked the field, ushering in the beginning of the party. Music and group dances from residents in the Villa and Sichuan Opera with face-changing performers wowed visitors watching the show.

“The residents here come from more than 30 countries and regions. Currently, we have more than 170 households, 40 percent of which are expats. Most of the expats here are senior management staff of internationally well-known companies,” said Rose Wang, operation director of the Jingshan Villa of Shenzhen Maillen Hotel Management Co.
