Chinese films awarded in Houston
    2017-May-2  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

“RESET,” a Chinese sci-fi feature starring Yang Mi, won the Remi Best in Show award Saturday at Houston’s 50th WorldFest International Film Festival. Yang won the Remi for best actress.

A popular actress in China who has starred in TV shows such as “Eternal Love,” Yang said she feels “much honored” to be awarded. “Reset,” with Jackie Chan as its executive producer, tells the story of a mother who travels back in time twice to save her only son.

The film’s executive director Jason Huang said “Reset” focused on the creative ideas behind the story rather than on action and special effects. The US$20 million-budget film is scheduled to be released in China in June.

The sci-fi and fantasy genre was a focus of WorldFest Panorama China, attracting many scripts with production potential.

Of the 33 Chinese films showcased at the festival, “Justice Forever,” “Sunset Blue” and “Mr. Zhu’s Summer” won Platinum Remi Awards, “Strangers and Survival in Shanghai” won a Gold Remi and a few others won Special Jury Awards. The 10-day event wrapped up Sunday.
