Smart sticker can raise sexual assault alarm
    2017-July-26  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

能发性侵求助的智能贴纸

MIT engineers have developed a wearable sticker that can detect sexual assault in real time*, and issue an alert to the victim’s “safety circle” to get them help as quickly as possible.

The device can be applied to any article of clothing, and operates in either an active or passive mode in efforts to protect both conscious* victims and those who may be intoxicated* or otherwise unable to consent*.

Once the device has detected what could be an assault, the wearer will be sent a message asking if they consent and, if they do not answer, it will issue a loud alarm, send out their geolocation, and even begin recording.

In the passive mode, it assumes the victim is conscious. If this is the case, that person can press a button on the sticker to activate the safety mechanism.

But, for situations when a person cannot consent, it also has an active mode.

This means the device uses information from the environment, such as attempts to remove the clothing, to assess the situation.

This could be used to protect infants, bed-ridden patients, the elderly, disabled, or people who are intoxicated or unconscious.

If an additional 30 seconds passes after this has begun, it will begin contacting people in the predefined* safety circle.(SD-Agencies)
