4 dead, 48 injured

FOUR people died and 48 others were injured after a bus collided with a truck yesterday in North China’s Tianjin Municipality, local authorities said.

The bus overturned after colliding with the truck loaded with cement at an intersection in Wuqing District, according to district authorities.

Official expelled

YANG JIACAI, former assistant to the chairman of the China Banking Regulatory Commission, has been expelled from the Communist Party of China (CPC) and dismissed from public office for corruption and violating the Party code of conduct.

The CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection made the announcement yesterday following an investigation authorized by the CPC Central Committee.

13 rescued, 2 missing

TWO container ships collided on the Yangtze River on Monday night, with 15 crew members falling overboard, authorities in East China’s Jiangsu Province confirmed yesterday.

One of the ships overturned and the 15 people onboard fell into the water after the collision near the city of Taicang at

10: 55 p.m. Monday, according to city’s maritime affairs bureau.

15 seized

FIFTEEN members of

Shanxinhui, a Shenzhen-based company suspected of organizing and leading a pyramid scheme, have been seized in Central China’s Hubei Province, police said Monday.

Of the 15, 13 have been placed in criminal detention, Hubei police said in a statement.

On Sunday, Guangdong police detained 230 members of Shanxinhui. Beijing police also arrested 63 after members of the pyramid scheme gathered in the capital city July 24.
