Glenn Close to get Zurich Festival’s Golden Icon Award
    2017-August-11  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

SIX-TIME Oscar nominee Glenn Close will be honored with the 13th Zurich Film Festival’s Golden Icon Award, a lifetime achievement honor, at the event Sept. 28-Oct. 8.

Close, known for her roles in “Fatal Attraction,” “Dangerous Liasons,” “Albert Nobbs” and TV’s “Damages,” will receive her award Oct. 1 in Zurich.

“From her commanding portrayal of Patty Hewes in ‘Damages’ to the glorious Marquise de Merteuil in Stephen Frears’ ‘Dangerous Liaisons’ via Alex Forrest and Cruella De Vil, Glenn Close has brought her extraordinary presence to countless memorable roles over a truly formidable career,” said Zurich Festival co-directors Nadja Schildknecht and Karl Spoerri.

Close will also present her latest film, “The Wife,” directed by Bjorn Runge and co-starring Jonathan Pryce and Annie Starke, at the Swiss festival. In an awkward bit of synchronicity, the plot of “The Wife” has Close playing the partner of an acclaimed writer who decides, while they are traveling to an awards ceremony, to leave her husband. The film’s Swedish helmer Runge is perhaps best known for award-winning 2003 drama “Daybreak.”(SD-Agencies)
