SZ TECHNOLOGY UNIVERSITY INAUGURATED
    2017-August-22  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THE Shenzhen Technology University was inaugurated in Pingshan District yesterday. The university has enrolled 226 students for the coming semester.

Focusing on engineering education, the university is aimed at cultivating high-level engineers and designers with bachelor’s and master’s degree programs. It has enrolled 226 students in three majors, including light and illumination, IoT engineering and machine design, and manufacturing and automation, for the coming semester starting in September.

Ruan Shuangchen, spokesperson of the university, said 300 dormitory rooms and more than 50 classrooms have been launched at the university along with the library and canteen. He said the university will have 10 majors in 2018 and is expected to enroll 1,000 students by then.

“I’m so glad to see the combination of Shenzhen speed and German quality,” said a distinguished German professor employed by the university. “The university has introduced the education system from Germany along with many cutting-edge machines, while it will also provide internship opportunities for students in big enterprises. I believe the university will be a great success.”

Forty students visited the university and toured the campus yesterday. Wen Peiqi, a student from Songgang Middle School, will study IoT engineering at the university.

Wen said she wanted to be an engineer and was fascinated by the university’s beautiful campus. According to her, she chose to major in IoT engineering because it might benefit her employment in the future. “The most important reason is that the university can provide a platform for us to learn and practice our skills at other universities,” she said.

As the university is still in the establishment process, the first batch of students will be offered diplomas issued by Shenzhen University. The students will have opportunities to participate in internships or other practical activities at universities in Germany and Switzerland.(Zhang Yang)
