Waiting areas set up to ease traffic jams
    2017-September-4  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THE traffic police have set up waiting areas for vehicles turning left and going straight at the intersection of Bao’an Boulevard and Airport South Road to improve the traffic efficiency in the area, the Southern Metropolis Daily reported Thursday.

Signs and lights have been set up at the intersection, and waiting areas for vehicles turning left and going straight in all four directions have been marked on the road. On Thursday morning, most drivers entered the left-turn waiting area in a timely manner as they were already familiar with it, but many drivers were hesitant to enter the go-straight waiting area since it was new to them.

“This is the first intersection in Shenzhen with both left-turn and go-straight waiting areas, which is why many residents are unfamiliar with it. We will continue to strengthen the guidance for drivers at the intersection,” said the spokesperson of the traffic police.

Traffic congestion is common at the intersection during rush hours as vehicles entering and exiting the airport use the intersection. Since the traffic police set up the left-turn and go-straight waiting areas and upgraded the traffic signs and lights at the intersection, traffic efficiency has largely improved in the area, according to the report.
