Here comes folk singer Garneau
    2017-September-7  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

U.S. singer-songwriter Chris Garneau will perform in Shenzhen in late October as part of his “Mind Walk” tour.

Garneau’s sound combines elements of folk, Americana and pop. He cites Jeff Buckley, Nina Simone, Nico and Chan Marshall as influences. After high school, Garneau briefly attended Berklee College of Music in Boston but left after completing one term and moved to New York City. There he began writing music and playing live shows at small venues in the East Village and Lower East Side of Manhattan, including CBGB’s Gallery and the Living Room.

Since releasing his debut album “Music for Tourists,” Garneau has toured throughout the United States, Canada, Brazil, Europe and Asia. His music was featured in season four of TV’s “Grey’s Anatomy” and the movie “The Smell of Us.” His cover of Elliott Smith’s “Between the Bars” was featured in Pedro Almodovar’s 2011 film “The Skin I Live In.”

In 2013, his third full-length “Winter Games” was released. For it, Garneau asked friends to write down their first memories of winter. These memories and his move to a rural countryside in the winter subsequently influenced his writing for the album.
