Truck-bike collision

A TRUCK driver, surnamed Zhang, was caught Saturday evening in Buji Subdistrict, Longgang District, after being on the run for 16 hours following a fatal accident that killed a bike rider.

The truck collided with the bike rider at the intersection of Saitu Science and Technology Park on Bulan Road in Nanwan Subdistrict, Longgang District, at 2:08 a.m. Saturday. The bike rider was killed and Zhang fled the scene.

Hypertension risk

THERE are around 700,000 residents in Shenzhen above the age of 35 who suffer from high blood pressure, but nearly half of them hadn’t been aware that they were suffering from the disease, according to the Shenzhen Center for Treatment and Prevention of Chronic Diseases on Sunday, National Hypertension Day.

Shenzhen initiated a program at 200 community clinics, which are required to assess the risks of cardiovascular diseases among patients with hypertension. Each clinic will keep records of 150 hypertension patients and develop a one-year-long intervention and treatment plan for each.

The city’s 593 community clinics have now registered a total of 330,000 high blood pressure patients.
