Park construction starts
    2017-October-10  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

CONSTRUCTION of the Bao’an coastal park has officially kicked off and will be finished by 2020, the Southern Metropolis Daily reported, quoting the district’s culture, sports and tourism bureau.

According to the bureau, the park will be located on a seashore belt with an approximate length of 45 kilometers in downtown Bao’an. The seashore belt is expected to be a key component of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

The coastal leisure area will cover 1.68 million square meters, adjacent to the Qianhai area of the China (Guangdong) Pilot Free Trade Zone and core commercial areas of Bao’an District.

In terms of the construction, work will be done in three phases with the first one focusing on building a coastal park, an art center in downtown Bao’an, entertainment facilities and some commercial buildings.

It has been disclosed that the art center will have a grand theater with 1,500 seats and a multifunctional hall with 600 seats as well as training rooms. A 120-meter-high Ferris wheel is expected to become a new landmark around the area along with other entertainment equipment.

The second phase of construction is going to build a seashore wetland park and an international culture and art center, while the last phase will focus on constructing a theme park.

The new coastal leisure park in Bao’an District gives hope to shunting tourists to western Shenzhen as the city’s east coast has been the preference of beachgoers for years, causing traffic in the east to get jammed easily over the past few years.
