Railway to offer Wi-Fi

THE Beijing-Zhangjiakou high-speed railway, a new railway linking Beijing and Zhangjiakou, a city in North China’s Hebei Province, will offer onboard Wi-Fi service for passengers. The railway will feature a new intelligent bullet train, which is better at energy saving, environmental protection and intelligent control than the currently-used “Fuxing” bullet train.

Officials punished

CHINA’S discipline inspection agency approved the punishment of two senior officials for discipline violations at a plenary meeting yesterday.

Li Gang was placed on one-year probation within the Party and Qu Shuhui was given two years of probation within the Party due to “serious violations of Party discipline,” said a statement issued after the meeting of the Communist Party of China Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI).

Less road deaths

CHINA reported less traffic-related deaths and road accidents during the eight-day National Day holiday from Oct. 1 to Sunday, according to the Ministry of Public Security.

The number of deaths from road accidents caused by speeding, drunk driving and fatigued driving plummeted 72.3 percent year on year.
