Online education, a way of the future
    2017-October-25  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

Online education is defined as using high technology for learning purposes. There is a famous quote by Elliot Masie that goes “We need to bring learning to people instead of people to learning.” This quote is relevant to online education, which will be the way of the future. But why is education going online?

The first reason is the uprise of high technology. With modern high technology, people have made it possible to access the Internet with a smartphone, a tablet, or a computer. To learn online, students simply need to log onto commonly-used platforms like Skype or QQ. Moreover, with the Internet, students can keep up with current events more easily, which is important as the world is changing at such a fast speed and a lot of knowledge is being updated every day. When students learn at traditional schools, the knowledge might have already become outdated. With the help of online education and the Internet, this problem is solved.

Second, there are more options. Students are no longer limited to the subjects learnt at school; instead, they can learn a wider variety of subjects that they are interested in. They can also select the teachers that they are comfortable with, or the teacher that suits them best. They can also make their own schedule, having lessons at any time they want.

For example, most people want to sleep late. Online education gives them the chance to wake up later. Another advantage is that learners can decide whether they want to participate in a group class or an individual class. Some people prefer group classes while others tend to focus better in one-to-one classes.

Third, it saves time and money. Doing online classes saves the time spent traveling to a specific place for both students and teachers, especially during rush hours. And we all know the famous idiom “Time is money.” In reality time is even more important than money since it cannot be rewound. From the perspective of an educational institution, online education saves money that would be spent to rent a physical place since most platforms are free.

Fourth, students are more comfortable learning at home. E-classes bring them new alternatives to classrooms. It also brings convenience to those who are sick but still want to do an hour of lessons because they don’t want to be left behind too much. With studying online, they can choose how long they want to study.

In conclusion, online learning will be the way of the future due to the benefits of high technology, more options, time-and-money-saving, and the comfort of studying at home. Thus, online education brings learning to people.
