Irving, Celtics hold off Hawks
    2017-November-8  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

KYRIE IRVING poured in 35 points on 14 of 22 shooting, including a clinching 14-footer with 20.3 seconds left that all but clinched the Boston Celtics’ 110-107 victory against the Hawks on Monday, their ninth in a row.

It was the first time this season Boston won despite allowing an opponent to top the 100-point mark. Jayson Tatum added 21 points and eight rebounds for the Celtics, who shot 48.1 percent from the field overall.

The Hawks took a 103-101 lead on a Malcolm Delaney 3-pointer with 2:05 left. At the other end, the shot clock was about to expire when Irving drilled a 3 from the right arc to put Boston back in front.

After Atlanta came up empty on a pair of attempts to take the lead, Marcus Smart fired a pass to Tatum in the left corner for another 3, giving the Celtics a 107-103 lead with 46.7 seconds left. The Hawks cut the deficit to 2 with a pair of foul shots, but with 20.3 seconds left Irving hit the difficult one-handed 14-footer, capping his big night.
