Taxi surcharge hike

THE surcharge for taxis operating in the city will be raised to 2 yuan (US$0.3) starting today. The surcharge hike is due to a rise in fuel prices, as the retail price of No. 92 gasoline has risen from 6.47 yuan per liter to 6.59 yuan in Guangdong Province since Nov. 2.

Talent fair

A TALENT fair, a sideline event of the 19th China Hi-Tech Fair, will be held in the office area of Shenzhen Municipal Hunan Resources and Social Security Bureau on Nov. 16 and 17.

The fair will attract more than 60 high-quality enterprises offering more than 1,000 posts with average annual salaries of over 500,000 yuan. The enterprises cover such fields as science information, manufacturing, new energy, new materials, biomedicine, finance, intelligent manufacturing and high-end service.

Mixture smuggling

HUANGGANG Customs recently seized 10 million yuan worth of smuggled products, which were mixed with regular products that were declared to customs, recently.

The driver, driving a truck with dual license plates for Hong Kong and Guangdong, declared a batch of plastic and rubber products when it entered Huanggang Checkpoint. However, the system sent out alerts and showed the truck was being monitored. Officers immediately checked the vehicle and found some pangolin scales, perfumes of brands like Dior and Vera Wang, and iPhones.

The driver was detained.

Road checks

SHENZHEN’S traffic police handled a total of 3,749 traffic violations in an action in Longgang on Tuesday, and 1,178 motorcycles and e-bikes were impounded. More than 1,000 officers were mobilized, including 410 from other districts and new areas, to check violations such as illegal tricycle services, e-bikes and motorcycles on roads.
