Senior woman stopped from transferring ¥1.4m to fraudster
    2017-November-9  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

POLICE stopped a senior woman in Futian from transferring 1.4 million yuan (US$212,121) to a fraud ring Oct. 17, according to sznews.com.

The resident, surnamed Wang, was heard by the patrolling administrator of the building where she lives talking on the phone with a stranger who claimed to be a law enforcement officer and told her that she was involved in a criminal case. Wang was asked to transfer 1.4 million yuan to a designated bank account by the stranger. The administrator, surnamed Chen, called the police after he heard Wang tell the stranger she was going to transfer the money.

Zhang Mi’er, a police officer with the Tongxinling Police Station, asked Chen to bring Wang to his office and contacted Wang’s son. Wang gave up on making the transfer after learning that she had been fooled.

However, Wang called the fraud ring after returning home as she wanted to figure out what had happened, but she was brainwashed again by the scammers.

Wang was stopped by a police patroller on her way to the bank. Zhang stayed with her until her son got back home. Wang finally realized that she had been deceived by the fraud ring. (Zhang Yang)
