Cold half marathon

A HALF marathon featuring ice, snow and cold weather will kick off Dec. 24 in Genhe, a city recognized as China’s “Pole of Cold” in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, local sports officials said yesterday.

Registration started on Monday morning, said the officials, adding that runners completing a distance of 21.0975 kilometers within 3.5 hours will receive awards.

Last year, the first event of its kind attracted more than 400 participants.
