Brogrammer码农
    2017-December-19  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A: Is Sarah actually seeing someone? They never seem to hang out or go to parties together.

B: The guy is a brogrammer who loves playing games and watching videos at home.

Note: A brogrammer is a slang term for a stereotypically masculine programmer. The word is a portmanteau of “bro” and “programmer.” Often used pejoratively, the term can also refer to others within a technical skill-set that adhere to a “bro” or “cool” culture, often obnoxiously so. As represented by Sheldon Lee Cooper, a fictional character in the CBS television series “The Big Bang Theory,” this once repressed demographic has become much more socially active despite their insensitivity and social cluelessness. However, some who describe themselves as a brogrammer see the term in a positive light as a word for “sociable or outgoing programmer.”
