Youthquake 青年震荡
    2017-December-25  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A: This year is incredible, as we see the rising influence of the millennial generation in politics everywhere.

B: Indeed, the power of youthquake.

Note: The term refers to a shift in cultural norms influenced by the values, tastes, and mores of young people. Youthquake was a 1960s cultural movement started in the streets of London by a new generation of young adults. The term was coined by Vogue magazine’s editor-in-chief Diana Vreeland in 1965. Youthquake involved music, pop culture and changed the landscape of the fashion industry. This word, chosen as Oxford Dictionaries’ 2017 word of the year, has been used to describe phenomena including surging youth support for Britain’s Labour Party and the election of 30-something leaders in France and New Zealand.
