NBA player works at fast food spot for the holidays
    2017-December-27  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

TO get into the holiday spirit, Wesley Matthews slipped out of his basketball clothes and into a different uniform: A Raising Cane’s uniform.

The Mavericks player spent some time after practice last week trying out his hand at a slightly different job.

“I was taking orders, I was working the window, handing out the food orders, basically an All-American,” he said.

Matthews spent his time at the restaurants across Dallas to collect clothes — hats, coats and other winter items for The Winter Warm-Up drive — an annual event where Mavericks players have pitched in to help their community through the years. But Matthews said he learned just a little bit about working at a restaurant like Raising Cane’s along the way.

“You gotta be quick on your toes and definitely have to listen,” he said.

Kind of like basketball, right?

“A little bit,” he agreed. “Patience, teamwork, all of that.”

For his holiday, Matthew said he plans on just hanging out with his family and just celebrate being together. As for if he expected anything from Mavericks owner Mark Cuban wrapped in a bow?

“I think Cuban has done plenty for us so I’m not really expecting anything else,” he said.
