A seminar with Du Youwei
    2018-February-7  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

On the afternoon of September 25, Du Youwei, an academician at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, a famous expert on magnets and magnetic materials and professor at Nanjing University, came to our senior high school and gave an inspirational lecture titled “Let Your Youth Fly” to teachers and students.

Firstly, Du encouraged students to have ambitious dreams. He said it is easy for ambitious children to succeed. And he gave some examples of famous scientists from home and abroad. He thinks that the middle school is the most important stage in life. After having a dream, we should make efforts to realize it. He said, “Genius isn’t born, but comes from hard work.”

In addition, Du encouraged students to delve into the nature of cultivating curiosity and creative thinking.

We can’t make our dreams come true easily, but if we make unremitting efforts and never give up, we will be successful in the end.

Finally, Du put forward his expectations for all the students. He hoped that we could cherish what we have, especially our lives. He also hoped that we sould be optimistic, united and kind people as well.

During the lecture, Du used plenty of examples and poems to explain a person’s life in different stages. After his speech, the audience’s applause continued for a long time. Many students took photos with Du and asked for his signature.

I believe that this lecture has impressed all the students, and a seed of science has been planted in our hearts.
