City spends over ¥916m on overseas talents
    2018-February-9  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

SINCE Shenzhen enacted the Peacock Plan, meant to lure high-level and innovative talents and teams from overseas to work in the city, in 2010, it had given out over 916 million yuan (US$145 million) in subsidies by the end of 2017, according to Shenzhen Municipal Human Resources and Social Welfare Bureau, sznews.com reported.

By Dec. 31, 2017, Shenzhen has certified 2,954 overseas high-end talents. A total of 4,363 individuals were given subsidies and allowances.

According to the bureau, the Peacock Plan supports the recruitment of high-level innovative overseas individuals and teams to work in Shenzhen, helping the city achieve strategic targets, drive supporting industries of high technology, finance, logistics and culture, and focus on the strategic industries in new energy, Internet, biology and new materials.

For 2017 alone, Shenzhen introduced 958 top-notch talents from outside of China, and 2,121 individuals received subsidies amounting 506 million yuan.

The bureau said that the talents introduced last year were mainly young, experienced professionals in various fields.

The bureau invited a third-party institution to conduct investigations on applicants and their employers to prevent fraudulent applications with fake resumes. (Zhang Qian)
